Gary DentGary has over 35 years’ of experience in the industry, starting as a carpentry apprentice in 1976. After working in Wellington for many years on a range of construction projects from high rises to bridges and residential homes, Gary started Rilean Construction South Island in Queenstown in 1994 with Stephen McLean.

Gary is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of operations by programming in jobs with project managers, managing sub-contractors to ensure all projects run smoothly and to plan.

Stephen McLean – Shareholder, Director and Senior Quantity Surveyor, Queenstown

Steve McLeanAfter starting his career in the building industry in 1977, Steve became a registered quantity surveyor. Steve first worked for Durney Construction in Wellington before starting Rilean Construction alongside his father in 1982. Gary and Steve then joined forces and opened Rilean Construction South Island in 1994.

Steve’s major daily focus is on producing estimates to procure ongoing projects, but he’s also responsible for marketing the company as well as administration and HR.

With over 600 completed jobs (and counting!) in Queenstown, Steve is proud of the many ‘Rilean memories’ around the town.

Steven Dent – Shareholder, Project Manager and Small Contracts Manager, Queenstown

Steve DentSteven gained first-hand experience in the construction industry at an early age, as he helped out his Dad Gary Dent after school and at weekends. After completing a carpentry apprenticeship, Steven is now the senior project manager and small contracts manager at Rilean.

Having only ever worked for Rilean, Steven has a vast and deep understanding of the company, in particular project management and overseeing its day-to-day functions. He visits numerous sites daily to ensure everything is running smoothly and on time.
