We were first introduced to the evolution series via some friends of ours who had recently finished building an evolution series home. We were amazed at the efficiency of the house and the warmth, we had... been renting in Fernhill so warmth was high on our list of priorities and the power bills over $400 a month were getting old in winter ! We began our research into the evolution series and soon were ready to jump in boots and all (we had a baby on the way too !) During the design process we were continually surprised at the flexibility of the design process and the number of options which were available to us as standard. Mick was constantly keeping us up to date with new technology and potential options for our build while also appreciating our budget. The build process seemed to be over in the blink of an eye. Again we were very impressed at the amount of contact we had with Gary the project manager during the build. The continual communication meant we were included in all decisions no matter how big or small from light switches and taps to additional timber in the frame in case we wanted to hang large objects from the walls ! Any issues on site were professionally dealt with by the evolution team with no problems. We have been in our new house just over a month and have been completely blown away by the thermal efficiency of the house. The maxraft system works fantastically, as the concrete slab is still warm under foot at 10pm in the evening purely by passive heating. What has been a bonus has been the well being of our little toddler, in the previous property he consistently had runny noses and snuffles, but since we moved in there have been no repeats of the coughs and colds that he kept getting in the colder house. The layout of the house is user friendly, well thought out and feels larger than the footprint of the slab. So to sum up our build we ended up with a super warm super efficient house completed one week early and on a tight budget. A big thanks to the team at Rilean.

Our Evolution Series home built by Rilean is excellent. We looked long and hard to find someone who could build us the house we wanted - with all the eco and energy saving design features we... desired. Rilean ticked all our boxes and more, exceeding our expectations by taking our ideas and working them into their Evolution Series model. A quick 9 months later we are in our new ultra warm home, with all the benefits of their well researched energy saving building practices and expertise. The cost per metre was not only reasonable for the style, quality and energy efficiency we were looking for, but the project and site management provided by Mick, Gary and the team ensured the initial price was adhered to and the build went quickly. We were especially impressed with how we were able to be involved in all stages of the design and build process, which helped to make sure we got as close to what we wanted as possible. The team were professional and demonstrated exceptional problem solving skills that always put us, the client, first. Some of what we wanted was novel even for a cutting-edge firm like Rilean. The high-efficiency, low emission log-burner with wetback connected to our solar boosted hot water system and radiators to the distant parts of the house was approached by Rilean as an opportunity to try something new. It has worked a charm! Our desire for mixed, non-standard wall and ceiling linings was approach with similar enthusiasm. The low VOC polyurethaned plywood panels exude warmth and rustic style, complementing our ultra-insulated polished concrete floors. The above-code insulation, well-designed double-glazed windows, and super-functional bathrooms are all a complete delight. As a company Rilean were great to deal with. We are extremely pleased that on the advice of our architect, Mark Gray of Mark Gray Architects, we chose Rilean’s evolution team to build our new house. Evolutions’s philosophy of constructing eco friendly housing matched very... well with our own need to live in a warm, energy efficient, healthy and affordable home to be achieved through the careful positioning of windows and the use of natural light. This will be achieved through the architect’s design and evolution’s construction skills. We have been very impressed with the way that Abbe, our selections consultant, has involved us through this process and has accommodated our requests for items such as the finish to the polished concrete floor in the living areas. Evolution has produced a schedule for the various stages of the build that has allowed us to plan our needs over the next few months. We have been pleased with the way Rilean Construction look after the safety of their employees and contractors working on site. Another feature of the building progress has been the tidiness of the site – no doubt contributing to the safety of all involved. However, the most impressive feature of this exciting process has been the three-way communication between evolution, our architect and us. Based on our experience so far we have no hesitation in recommending Rilean and their evolution team to anybody considering building an eco friendly home.

When the opportunity to build in Queenstown arose for us, we had very specific objectives and parameters: we wanted a warm energy efficient home that had to fit within our budget. In addition, we were not... living in Queenstown and needed someone we could trust to project manage the entire building process. After a number of recommendations, we decided to work with evolution series homes and we have not been disappointed. We met with Mick in June 2012, and together we worked to create a design that met our family’s needs. Communication was excellent at every level from Project Manager to Site Foreman. We were kept very well informed throughout the building and selection process - a truly great team to work with. We had a specific timeframe that we really needed to work within and the evolution team succeeded in completing the build on time, and on budget. The result is an absolutely wonderful family home which we love living in and has met all our objectives and expectations. We have no hesitation in recommending the evolution team to anyone.
