The polished concrete floor and concrete block feature wall provide not only visual interest but also thermal mass to maximize the effects of passive solar gain coming through the full length windows, which are argon-filled, double-glazed within thermally-broken aluminium joinery.

This home is visually pleasing, but what is most remarkable about it can be felt rather than seen.  A German-engineered membrane encasing the entire envelope of the house is integrated into the Increased insulation through exterior walls and ceiling, creating a warmer, healthier and draft-free environment.

Parallel mono-pitch roofs add visual interest and obscure from street level solar panels that use free energy from the sun to heat water and reduce energy bills by about a third.  The exterior cladding artfully blends cedar and coloursteel with accents of local schist, creating a unique, modern look that suits its environs.
